Sesamol is the major antioxidant in sesame oil. At the same time, it has anti-inflammatory effects on neurological inflammation, arthritis, atherosclerosis, myocardial associated inflammation etc. Sesamol plays an anti-inflammatory role by regulating oxidative stress, inflammatory factors and inflammatory signaling pathways. The molecular mechanism of sesamol on various inflammatory inhibition effects were reviewed to provide a reference for its application and promotion as nutraceutical. |
