omega-7 fatty acids are a group of monounsaturated fatty acids, commonly found in deep-sea fish (such as anchovies) and in certain plant foods (macadamia oil, seabuckthorn fruit oil, seaweed, etc.). In recent years, the roles of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids have been well known, but the effects of omega-7 fatty acids are rarely known. omega-7 fatty acids not only can control weight, improve skin conditions, increase insulin sensitivity in human body and help to reduce the accumulation of liver fat and inflammation, but also can reduce low density lipoprotein, increase high density lipoprotein and improve coronary heart disease and hypertension. The population of China is aging rapidly, and the number of people suffering from diabetes of mellitus, hyperlipidemia and other metabolic syndrome grow rapidly, so there is a greater demand for omega-7 fatty acids health products and pharmaceutical preparations. The current research status of palmitoleic acid on weight control, skin conditions improvement,atherosclerosis prevention, improvement of metabolic syndrome and inflammation,bone fragmentation prevention, and dry eye syndrome improvement and its possible negative effects function were reviewed in order to provide references for the development of omega-7 fatty acids functional products. |
