Abstract:
Toxicological assessment of Moringa oleifera seed oil was conducted through acute toxicity test, genetic toxicity test and 30-day feeding test with SD rats and Kunming rats as test animals. The results showed that the rats in acute toxicity test had no death or obviousy toxic symptoms; the results of every dosage group in genetic toxicity test were negative; the blood glucose levels of female and male rats fed with forage containing 6% and 12% of Moringa oleifera seed oil reduced significantly, the total protein level of male rats fed with forage containing 12% of Moringa oleifera seed oil decreased markedly, and the other blood biochemical indexes had no obvious change in 30-day feeding test. Therefore, Moringa oleifera seed oil was a kind of edible oil with no toxicity.
