Purification of resveratrol from Smilax china L. and its antioxidant activity |

Abstract: |
The crude resveratrol extract was obtained from Smilax china L. by ultrasound-assisted extraction and it was purified by silica gel column chromatography. The antioxidant activity of esveratrol was evaluated by researching the antioxidant effect of resveratrol on oil and the scavenging effect of resveratrol on superoxide anion radical and hydroxyl radical. The results showed that the yield of resveratrol extracted from Smilax china L. was 2.36%. And resveratrol from Smilax china L. had stronger antioxidant effect on oil and free radical-scavenging capacity. When the mass concentration of resveratrol from Smilax china L. was 8 mg/mL, the scavenging rates on hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical were 71.91% and 75.14% respectively. Moreover, the antioxidant activity of the extract improved apparently after purification. |
