In order to effectively determine crude glycerol quality, crude glycerols from different sources were adopted to simulate production. The effects of alkali saponification and activated carbon type on hot test chroma and foamability of pure glycerol were studied. The results showed that after the alkali saponification, the hot test chroma of pure glycerol increased from 15 to 60, while the hot test chroma of pure glycerol without alkali saponification increased from 15 to above 200. The activated carbon type had a great influence on the chroma of pure glycerol, after hot test, the best chroma was 170, while the worst chroma was above 500. The activated carbon type had larger influence on the defoaming time of pure glycerol with foamability. The shortest defoaming time was 7 s, while the longest defoaming time was over 600 s. Qualified hot test indicator pure glycerol could be applied as medical grade, and qualified foamability indicator pure glycerol could be applied as industrial grade. |
