Vegetable oil-based microemulsion is a thermodynamically stable system of transparent or translucent, with many advantages of small droplet size, low interfacial tension, strong solubilization capacity, moderate biocompatible environment, etc., which has been widely applied in the fields of food, cosmetic products, drug carrier and biodiesel. The formation mechanism, preparation method and physicochemical property of vegetable oil-based microemulsion were introduced. Furthermore, the application progress on vegetable oil-based microemulsion at home and abroad were highlighted, and pointed out an all-important direction to be further studied on microemulsion systems containing the bioactive ingredients and medicinal composition in order to promote the more extensive application of vegetable oil-based microemulsion. |
