Abstract: |
The oil content in seed, fatty acid composition and fuel properties of oils from the main biodiesel plants species of Styrax spp. were systematically analyzed. The morphological indexes, oil content in seed of eight biodiesel plants species and physicochemical property, fatty acid composition of the oils were measured, and the physicochemical property of fatty acid methyl ester was estimated. The results showed that the oil content in seed of eight species ranged from 22.24% to 54.86%, the length of fatty acid carbon chain was mainly in C14-C20, and the key components were oleic acid and linoleic acid. The iodine value of the oils ranged from 114.16 gI/100 g to 124.34 gI/100 g, and the saponification value ranged from 159.89 mgKOH/g to 168.98 mgKOH/g. The kinematic viscosity, cetane number, density, high heating value and cold filter plugging point were 3.55-3.60 mm2/s, 48.87-50.73, 862.88- 864.58 kg/m3, 40.67-41.10 kJ/g and -6.70--1.54?℃, respectively. Eight biodiesel plants species could be clustered into three groups according to the principal component analysis. By comprehensive analysis, eight biodiesel plants species of Styrax spp.could be all used as preliminary screening plant for non-grain diesel plants. |
