Abstract: |
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which belongs to omega-3 unsaturated fatty acid, is one of the important nutrients for maintaining human health with potential medical applications. Compared with plant and animal sources, DHA synthesized by Schizomycetes has broaden the industrial application prospects. Studies showed that there were some promising ways to improve the DHA production, including over expressing the key enzymes of polyketide synthase (PKS) and fatty acid synthase (FAS) pathway, as well as optimizing the cultivation conditions (such as carbon sources, nitrogen sources, temperature, inorganic salts, trace elements, precursor substances and biological promoters). In addition, sequencing and analysis of the genome and transcriptome of Schizomycetes under different conditions further revealed the mechanism of DHA synthesis, corresponding to the unsaturated double bond formation, signal introduction, lipid transportation and metabolism. |
