Abstract: |
A food-grade ethylene-propylene-diene monomer(EPDM) waterstop was prepared by die pressing process using environment-friendly soybean oil instead of traditional softener. The processing property, physical and mechanical properties of the waterstop were investigated. The performance and price of the presented waterstop were compared with EPDM waterstop containing paraffin oil. The results showed that a small amount of soybean oil(0-15 g) was added, and the anti-plastic effect was obvious. After a large amout of soybean oil(15-30 g) was added, the plastic effect was obvious. When the amount of soybean oil was 20 g, the SHORE A hardness, tensile strength, tear strength, fracture elongation, brittle temperature, and compression set value at 23 ℃ for 168 h and at 70 ℃ for 24 h were 64, 24.2 MPa, 36 kN/m, 582%,-55 ℃, 18% and 29%, respectively. After the aging test of hot air, ozone and Ca(OH)2 saturated solution, the performance indexes were still qualified. Furthermore, the addition of soybean oil could reduce the production cost of EPDM waterstop. |
