| Abstract: |
| At present, China’s palm oil import is growing rapidly, the import growth rate reached 41.76% in 2019. Accounting for more than 60% of edible vegetable oil import volume, the palm oil import has become an important force to make up the gap between the production and demand of edible vegetable oil in China. If the import of palm oil continues to grow rapidly, it will be restricted by foreign supply, which will affect the stable supply of domestic edible vegetable oil. Therefore, based on the analysis of the current rapid growth characteristics of Chinas palm oil import,the reasons were discussed from three aspects:the increased import demand of edible vegetable oil, the price advantage of palm oil, and the relevant trade policies at home and abroad. The three countermeasures including expanding domestic oil seed production to increase domestic edible vegetable oil supply, encouraging enterprises to “go global” to stabilize the source of palm oil import, strengthening cooperation in “the belt and the road” to expand other oil import channels were put forward to provide references for slowing down palm oil import growth. |
