| Soybean processing industry is a keystone industry involving people’s livelihood such as oil, meat, eggs and milk. It is also of great significance for food security and stabilizing market supply of oils and feed ingredients. Since China joined WTO in the beginning of the 21st century, soybean trade has been fully open and profound changes have taken place in this industry. It is necessary to review the history of soybean processing, analyze the challenges in soybean processing industry, and make suggestions for future development. China’s soybean processing industry has made considerable progress after years of growth. However, there is still a certain gap compared with the international leading level in the industry in terms of raw material procurement, product research and development capacity, cost control and sales premium. Competitiveness of enterprises could be improved by better managing international price risks, strengthening refined management in processing and enhancing the product and sales premium so as to create high-quality growth of the industry. |
