| China is a country with a severe shortage of oil and oilseeds, more than 60% of edible oil depends on imports, and the need for edible oil will be a long-term problem in the future. Influenced by trade friction and COVID-19, it is urgent for China to find a new partner for oil and oilseeds, and improve the diversity of import channels. Kazakhstan is a major oil and oilseeds-producing country in the “Belt and Road”, and has a strong trade foundation with China. The planting areas of oil crops, and yields, import and export of oil and oilseeds in Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2018 were investigated. The results showed that the government of Kazakhstan was vigorously developing the oil and oilseeds industry. At present, Kazakhstan’s oil crops planting area and oilseeds production capacity are kept increasing, and its potential for oil processing is great. This phenomenon has laid a foundation and provided opportunities for Sino-Kazakhstan oil and oilseeds trade cooperation. |
