一.There are currently three major socially recognized core journals in the country:
1. Peking University Library "Chinese core journals", Peking University core is identified by Peking University Library in conjunction with many authoritative experts in academia, and several domestic university libraries according to the citation rate, reprint rate, abstract rate and other indicators. The criteria for identifying core journals are also formulated by some university libraries, and the evaluation and entry standards of each school library are not the same, which is widely recognized by the academic community. In terms of influence, its rank is one of the more authoritative of its kind. It is the most authoritative one with academic influence except NTU Core and China Science Citation Database (cscd).
2. Nanjing University "Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) source journals", developed by Nanjing University, "Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index" (CSSCI) is a national, the Ministry of Education's key issues of the key research projects. CSSCI follows the laws of bibliometrics and adopts the method of combining quantitative and qualitative evaluation to select journals with strong scholarship and standardized editing as the source journals from more than 2,700 Chinese academic journals in humanities and social sciences in China. Now the data of CSSCI (1998-2008) has been developed, with nearly more than 540,000 pieces of source literature and more than 3.2 million pieces of cited literature. The results of this project have filled the gaps in China's social science citation index and reached the leading level in China."
3. Chinese Academy of Sciences Literature and Intelligence Center "Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) source journals", Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD, ChineseScienceCitationDatabase) income of China's mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geology, biology, Agricultural and forestry sciences, medicine and health, engineering technology, environmental sciences and management sciences, etc. The CSCD contains nearly 1,000 core journals and excellent journals in Chinese and English, including 670 core journals and 378 extended journals, and has accumulated nearly 1 million thesis records and 4 million citation records from 1989 to now. It is rich in content, scientific in structure and accurate in data. In addition to the general search function, the system also provides a new type of indexing relationship - citation index. Using this function, the user can quickly query from millions of citations to the details of a scientific and technological literature being cited, and can also start from an early important literature or the name of the author to retrieve a batch of related literature published on It is very important reference value for the development and research of cross disciplines and new disciplines. In addition to the literature search function provided by China Science Citation Database, its derived products such as China Scientometric Indicator Database have also become a powerful tool for China's scientific literature measurement and citation analysis research.
二. What are SCI, SSCI and CSSCI respectively?
SCI is scientific search, science and technology generally value this, SSCI is economic and other social sciences. The first two are viewed as the top international search databases, and the full text is generally written in English.CSSCI belongs to the domestic one, which is a database of Chinese social sciences, and its importance is generally considered lower than that of SSCI.
At present, a country's scientific and technological papers by SCI, SSCI included more or less has been regarded as a measure of the country's level of basic scientific research, scientific and technological strength and scientific and technological paper level of the important evaluation indicators, how to correctly evaluate the results of basic scientific research has also aroused more and more widespread concern in the academic community.
三, what are SCI, SSCI and CSSCI?
1. SCI Created by the American Institute for Scientific Information (AISI), the authors, titles, source journals, abstracts and keywords of the collected literature can not only assess the academic value of the articles from the point of view of literature citation, but also quickly and conveniently form a reference network of the research topic.SCI was founded in 1961, and SCI (Science Citation Index), EI (Engineering Index), and ISTP (Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings) are the world's three famous scientific and technical literature retrieval systems, which are internationally recognized as the main search tools for scientific statistics and scientific evaluation, among which SCI is the most important. SCI (Science Citation Index), EI (Engineering Index), ISTP (Index to Scientific and Technical Proceedings) are the world's three famous scientific and technical literature retrieval systems, which are internationally recognized as the main search tools for scientific statistics and scientific evaluation, among which SCI is the most important. After 40 years of development and improvement, it has become a powerful electronic, integrated, networked, large-scale multidisciplinary and comprehensive retrieval system from the single printing type at the beginning, SCI is based on the theory of S. C. Bradford's discrete law of literature, and the theory of E. Garfield's citation analysis, and it can analyze academic journals and scientific research results by the statistics of citation frequency of papers. It is one of the most important indexes for judging the academic level of a country, a scientific research institution, a school of higher education, a periodical, and even a researcher through a multi-faceted evaluation study of academic journals and scientific research achievements. Since the papers included in SCI are mainly in the field of basic research in natural science, the SCI indicators are mainly applicable to the evaluation of the results of basic research, and the main results of basic research are expressed in the form of academic papers. Therefore, how to evaluate the results of basic research is also often simplified to how to evaluate the impact of the content carried by the papers on the progress of scientific knowledge. Therefore, SCI is the most authoritative scientific and technological literature search tool recognized in the international arena, and the contents of the journals included in SCI are mainly related to the basic scientific research fields of mathematics, science, chemistry, agriculture, forestry, medicine and biology, etc. The selected journals originate from more than 40 countries with more than 50 kinds of languages, of which the main countries are the United States, the United Kingdom, Holland, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Canada, etc., and some of the Chinese (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) journals are included as well. It also includes some journals from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).
2. SSCI, the Social Science Citation Index, is the sister of SCI and was created by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) of the United States, which is a large-scale search tool that can be used to statistically analyze the number of social science papers from different countries and regions in the world. 1999, SSCI included 1809 of the world's most important social science journals covering 55 fields, such as anthropology, law, economics, history, geography, psychology, etc. SSCI also includes the most important social science journals from the world, such as the Journal of Social Sciences. It covers 55 fields including anthropology, law, economics, history, geography, psychology, etc. The types of literature included include: research papers, book reviews, symposia, editorials, autobiographies, letters, etc. The number of selected journals is more than 1,300. The SSCI includes 2,684 (as of June 9, 2009) social science journals that report and cite social science research, as well as papers from SCIE journals that are related to social science research. as well as Special Education, Environmental Studies, Ergonomics, Ethnic Studies, Family Studies, Geography, Hospitality, Leisure, Sports and Tourism, Health Policy, Nursing, Gerontology, Health and Rehabilitation, Substance Abuse, History and Philosophy of Science, Labor and Employment, Information Science and Librarianship, International Relations, Law, Forensic Science, Linguistics, Management Science, Operations Research, Planning and Development, and Political Science, Psychiatry, Psychology, Ethics, Public Administration, Sociology, Urban Studies, Transportation, Women's Studies, and more.
3. CSSCI The Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI), developed by Nanjing University, is a key research project of the State and the Ministry of Education of China, which is used to retrieve the papers included in the Chinese social sciences and the literature cited in the field of Chinese social sciences. From more than 2,700 Chinese academic journals in the humanities and social sciences across the country, journals with strong scholarship and editorial standards are selected as source journals. The Ministry of Education (MOE) has taken the CSSCI data as an important assessment index for the evaluation of institutions and bases of universities nationwide, the evaluation of achievements, the establishment of projects, and the cultivation of talents, etc. Literature indexed by CSSCI comes from the source journals that have been selected by the China Social Science Research and Evaluation Center of Nanjing University in accordance with the principles and methods of selecting journals determined by the Steering Committee of Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CCSRI), and reported to the Ministry of Education (MOE) for approval. The source journals are determined based on quantitative indicators such as the impact factor and total number of citations of the journals with the opinions of experts from various disciplines. After the determination, the relevant journals are added, deleted and adjusted every year according to the quality of the journals. The CSSCI database has been purchased and used by more than 100 organizations such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Jilin University, Shandong University, Nanjing University, etc., which use the CSSCI as an important basis for the evaluation and assessment of the regions, institutions, academics, disciplines, titles, projects, and achievements. At present, it contains more than 500 academic journals in 25 categories, including law, management, economics, history, political science and so on.
Core journals, mainly those journals with a higher academic level, are tools for publication evaluation rather than specific academic evaluation. A considerable number of teaching and research units need to publish one or several papers in core journals in order to apply for senior titles, qualify for doctoral dissertation defense, declare scientific research projects, and assess the academic level of scientific research institutions or institutions of higher learning.
Core journals generally include "Beida Core Journals" (i.e. National Chinese Core Journals, now in 2011 edition, previously evaluated once every four years, now evaluated once every three years) and "Nanda Core Journals" (i.e. CSSCI, popularly known as C-journals, which is even more influential than the Beida Core, and the quality of the journals is even better).
